BRO-SARDEX-PD

This composition contains three salts such as salbutamol, bromhexine, choline Theophyllinate which effectively treats asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder. They ease the breathing by reducing viscosity and widens airway.

Salbutamol belongs to the beta-2 adrenergic agonist class and is used in the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. It is the racemic mixture of R and S enantiomer. It provides relief from the bronchospasm.

Bromhexine is basically expectorant and mucolytic agent. It provides relief from the viscid mucus and involves in the treatment of respiratory problems.

Choline Theophyllinate is the xanthine derivative which is indicated for the treatment of cough, it works as bronchodilator which opens ups the airway. It is more soluble and causes less irritation.

  • Chronic bronchitis
  • Bronchial asthma
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
  • Hyperkalaemia

Mechanism of action-

Salbutamol acts on the beta-2 adrenergic receptors and activates the cyclic AMP which further causes the release of protein kinase A which relaxes the smooth muscles.
Bromhexine disrupts the structure of mucopolysaccride in the sputum and reduces viscosity of the mucus.
Choline Theophyllinate relaxes the muscles and opens the airways in the lungs.

Pharmacokinetics-

Salbutamol-
It is absorbed orally
It shows less protein binding
It is converted to 4-O-sulphate in the liver
It is excreted via feces

Bromhexine-
It is absorbed orally
It is highly bound to plasma proteins
It undergoes first pass metabolism in liver
